For drivers under 19, Utah requires 18 hours of classroom instruction at a commercial or private school (27 hours at a high school, 30 hours online) and 6 hours behind the wheel with a certified instructor. Observation hours aren't required by state law for commercial schools, though many schools include them anyway. Yes. A valid Utah learner's permit must be in hand before any behind-the-wheel session. You can get one at age 15 after passing the written knowledge test, and if you're 15 to 17 you must hold it for at least six months before applying for a license. Schools will not put a student in the car without it.
A full teen package usually runs $350 to $425 depending on the city and how much behind-the-wheel time is included. Behind-the-wheel only is commonly $335 to $385, classroom only $100 to $250, and private lessons $50 to $100 per lesson. We show you real quotes from local schools rather than one fixed price.
No. Utah requires that your final road test be administered by a different approved third-party tester or by the Driver License Division. We account for this automatically when we match you, so you are never sent somewhere that cannot legally test you.
Yes. Select Spanish as your preferred language in the intake form and we only match you with schools that have Spanish-speaking instructors and Spanish course materials. This is one of the most common requests we handle.
Partner schools agree to respond to a matched family within two business days. Requests submitted on weekday mornings often get a response the same afternoon. You are under no obligation to book with anyone who reaches out.
Choose Behind-the-Wheel Only in the intake. Many Utah high schools cover the classroom requirement but not the in-car hours, and most of our partner schools will complete just that portion for you.

Utah Student Driving is a free service that connects Utah families with independent driving schools certified by the Utah Driver License Division. A family submits a request on this site or by phone; we route it to partner schools in their city, and those schools contact the family directly with quotes.
The site also includes a private console our team uses to review incoming requests, assign them to partner schools, and track follow-up. Staff sign in to that console with Google. Sign-in requests only the account's name, email address, and profile picture to confirm who you are — it does not request access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Google data.
