What we collect, who we hand it to, and how to make it stop.

Last updated July 24, 2026
Short version: We collect the details you enter in our intake form so that DLD-certified driving schools near you can contact you with quotes. We share your request with those schools. We do not sell your information to unrelated advertisers. You can ask us to stop at any time by replying STOP to a text, or by emailing [email protected].

1. Who we are

Utah Student Driving ("we," "us") operates utahstudentdriving.com, a referral service that connects Utah families with independent, state-certified driver education providers. We are not a driving school. We do not provide instruction, administer road tests, or issue licenses.

2. Information we collect

When you submit our intake form, we collect: student first and last name, student age, learner's permit status, city or zip code and selected region, the service you are requesting, preferred language, desired start timing, your phone number, your email address, any optional notes you provide, and, for students under 18, the name and phone number of a parent or guardian.

We also automatically collect standard technical information: IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and the pages you view on our site. We use this to prevent abuse, measure which pages help families, and maintain records of consent.

3. Consent records we keep

When you check the consent box and submit the form, we store a record of that consent, including the exact wording displayed to you, the date and time of submission, the IP address the submission came from, and the page URL where consent was given. We retain these records for at least five years. We keep them to demonstrate compliance with the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act and comparable state rules, and to resolve any dispute about whether contact was authorized.

If you use the chat on our site, we store the messages you send and receive, the date and time, the IP address the conversation came from, the page you were on, and the language of the conversation. If you type an email address into the chat, we store that address and forward the conversation to our team so a person can follow up with you. We do not use the chat's replies to make any decision about you; it exists to answer questions and take a message.

4. How we use your information

  • To route your request to DLD-certified partner schools that serve your area and offer the service you selected.
  • To contact you ourselves by phone, text, or email about your request, including follow-up on whether a school reached you.
  • To exclude schools that legally cannot serve you, such as a school that trained you and therefore cannot administer your final road test.
  • To measure and improve our matching, including how quickly schools respond.
  • To detect fraud, duplicate submissions, and abuse of the service.

5. Who we share it with

We share the contents of your request with the partner driving schools we match you to. Those schools become independent controllers of that information and handle it under their own policies. We share only what a school needs to contact you and quote your service.

We also use service providers for hosting, email delivery, text messaging, analytics, and spam prevention. They process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

We do not sell your personal information to unrelated third-party advertisers or lead aggregators. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid government request, or to protect the safety of a person.

6. Calls, texts, and how to stop them

By providing your phone number and checking the consent box, you agree that we and our matched partner schools may contact you at that number by phone call or SMS text message about driver education services, including through automated dialing or prerecorded messages. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any service, and you may decline and instead call us directly at (801) 717-6020.

To stop text messages from us, reply STOP to any message. To stop calls or emails from us, email [email protected] or call the number above. To stop contact from a specific partner school, tell that school directly, and tell us so we can note it. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.

7. Students under 18

Our service is intended to be used by an adult. When the student is under 18, we require a parent or guardian name and phone number, and we treat that adult as the responsible party for the request. We do not knowingly collect information from a child under 13. If you believe a child under 13 submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your choices and rights

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. Note that deletion of your request does not reach schools that already received it, so contact those schools as well.

We will retain consent records described in section 3 even after a deletion request, because we are required to be able to prove that contact was authorized. We limit those retained records to what is necessary for that purpose.

9. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your form progress on your own device, and understand aggregate traffic patterns. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though saved form progress will stop working if you do.

10. Security and retention

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. We keep intake requests for as long as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations, and consent records for at least five years as described above.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how we share your information will be posted prominently on the homepage for at least 30 days.

12. Contact us

Questions, requests, or complaints: [email protected], or (801) 717-6020, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Mountain Time.
